CEA registration renewal: the dates that matter

Registrations for Singapore property salespersons expire on 31 December. CEA's renewal window runs from 1 October to 30 November, and a renewal takes effect on 1 January. The date that decides whether you are working on 2 January is 30 November, not 31 December.

The window

CEA accepts renewals from 1 October to 30 November. After 30 November it stops accepting renewals for the coming year, so a reminder set a month before the 31 December expiry fires after the door has already closed.

A renewal done inside the window takes effect on 1 January. Your registration is valid until 31 December either way, so renewing early costs nothing.

Before you renew

CEA sets the conditions for renewal, including the continuing professional development (CPD) you need to have completed, and they can change from year to year. Check the current requirements on CEA's website rather than last year's notes.

Salespersons are self-employed, and CEA expects your MediSave contributions under the CPF Self-Employed Scheme to be up to date, either paid or on an active GIRO plan. If you are behind, sort that out with CPF first: it is the one condition that takes time to clear.

If it lapses

Once a registration expires you cannot carry out estate agency work until it is renewed and shows as current on CEA's public register, which is the list clients and co-broke agents check.

Where Propoa comes in

Propoa reminds you when the window opens, two weeks before it closes and just before the 30 November cut-off, then picks the renewal up from the public register once it is done.

Propoa is a client and deal app for CEA-registered agents in Singapore. Get the app, 14 days free.
